Waiting on the Lord

Psalm 130:5
I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope.

Psalm 37:7
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him

Since November 2010 Trey and I have been excited, full of urgency and making steps towards adoption and foster care. And slowly but surely things beyond our control have entered our life and slowed us down. First we had to be married a year, a requirement of our agency. We started our classes the summer after the one year mark and in September found out Trey's job was sending him to paramedic school through July which meant a crazy schedule. So we set the date of August 20 to open up our home. And in July I got a new job with a start date...August 20th. So we asked God, what the heck??? Sought council from our community group and a couple that has both birth children and children they fostered and adopted. And we had peace about praying for a month or two and seeing if later in the fall would be a better time. The next week Trey dislocated his shoulder for the fourth time and had to get surgery and found out he couldn't life much of anything for several months.

Well, we got the point. We have no idea when we will move forward and when adoption will be a permanent part of our lives. For now we are seeking the Lord in prayer, studying His word and memorizing it so hoping in it will come more naturally. Since we met we have been in constant transition and change. And this is a season where we are enjoying rest and waiting on the Lord. And enjoying the blessings of investing in our community group, serving kids at church, spending time with friends and family and making our house a home.

Many times in my life I have thought I had things "figured out" and to my amusement God consistently reminds me that He doesn't see timelines and plans like we do. Right now we are joyfully accepting the unknown and trusting that He will reveal our next steps He wants us to take them.
